Notice for Software Developed under 10CFR50 Appendix B

For the Nuclear Sector, these software development requirements are not applicable to software developed under, the EPRI Quality Assurance Program, which complies with 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21 and ISO 9000-1994. Software developed under the EPRI Quality Assurance Program shall follow the requirements documented in that Program. Your EPRI contract will clearly state if this separate program applies to you.

Some EPRI software development contracts require development according to the standard known as 10CFR50 Appendix B. This standard was developed to cover products used for safety-related purposes at nuclear power plants. Software codes developed under 10CFR50 Appendix B follow a formal quality program whose special requirements do not appear in this Process Guide for Software Development. That separate program is known as the EPRI Quality Assurance Program. If your software has a 10CFR50 Appendix B requirement, the original contract will state this fact.

NOTICE: The EPRI Quality Assurance Program takes precedence over and supersedes the requirements of this document.
