EPRI Staff Meet With DOE Concerning Renewable Energy, Full Portfolio Analysis, and Water Activities

  •   On May 11, Bryan Hannegan, Tina Taylor, Karen Forsten, and Barbara Tyran met with representatives of DOE's   Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy   Reliability to discuss the integration of renewable energy technology into the utility grid.  The purpose of the   meeting was to describe the DOE and EPRI experience to date, to share plans for future activities in   integration, and to discuss potential direction for future activity, including possible opportunities for mutual   support.

  •   On May 20, Bryan Hannegan and John Novak met with Pete Lyons, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of   DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy, to present the EPRI full portfolio analysis, highlight further climate work, and   discuss the role of nuclear energy in a carbon-constrained world.  Matt Crozat from the DOE Nuclear Office also   attended the meeting.  Pete Lyons expressed an interest in a future briefing on EPRI water activities. 
  •   Several DOE program offices expressed an interest EPRI research results related to fish protection at steam   electric power plants and other EPRI water activities. On June 16, Tina Taylor, Tom Terbush, David Bailey, Paul   Jacobson, John Novak, and Bob Goldstein (by phone) provided an overview of the EPRI Water Activities to staff   from DOE program offices (Fossil, Nuclear, EERE) and from the Undersecretary's office.
