EPRI Plans First Site Visit to Evaluate Ergonomics and Worker Safety Near Wind Turbines
On October 12-13, an EPRI research team will make its first site visit to evaluate ergonomics and worker safety near wind turbines, at a wind farm in Odessa, TX.  With the growth of wind energy, companies need information to protect workers during construction, operation, and maintenance of wind turbines.  As part of the 2-3 day site visit, researchers will interview personnel about specific task requirements, make biomechanical measurements on workers performing tasks of interest, and review related manuals or training materials.  Site owners will receive a detailed report recommending best practices at their facility.  Companies interested in arranging a site visit or seeking more information should contact Gabor Mezei, (650) 855-8908, gmezei@epri.com.
