Resource Paper Describes Magnetic Field
Interference With Electronic Imaging Systems
“Overview
of Electron Microscope Interference” (EPRI Product
1021218). According to this Resource Paper, it
is possible to control interference from power-frequency
magnetic fields to maintain sharp imaging in electron
microscopes, magnetic resonance imaging systems, and
nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers. Control
methods include modifying the building electrical supply
or removing magnetic field sources, employing passive
shielding, and installing active field cancellation.
Users of electronic imaging systems should verify that
problems are not caused by vibration before investigating
magnetic field interference. For more information,
