Resource Paper Describes Progress in Developing a Mouse Model of Childhood Leukemia
"Progress Report: The Development of a Mouse Model of Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia" (EPRI Product 1021219). Development of a genetically engineered mouse that accurately models acute lymphocytic leukemia in children is one of the highest research priorities of the World Health Organization. For a number of years, EPRI has supported research at the University of California, San Francisco to develop a mouse model of this most common childhood leukemia. The present Resource Paper describes research performed at the University of California laboratory through March 2010. Ultimately, an animal model of the disease will help clarify the basis for the association reported in epidemiologic studies between residential magnetic field and childhood leukemia.
