EPRI Addresses Role of Energy Sector in International Offsets
On May 26, Geoff Blanford gave a presentation entitled International Offsets: The Potential Role of the Energy Sector at the Global Technology Strategy Project Technical Workshop in College Park, MD.  His presentation described the dilemma of a short-term “window of opportunity” for international offsets versus long-term global stabilization goals that will be less favorable to international offsets.  The political economy behind such international agreements is complex, and ultimately, sectoral caps on emissions may be abandoned in favor of national targets as countries join global stabilization efforts.  For more information, contact Geoff Blanford, (650) 855-2126, gblanford@epri.com.
