44(12):4590–4596. Co-authored by EPRI’s Eladio
Knipping and Stephanie Shaw, this paper presents results
from field measurements made during the 2008 August
Mini-Intensive Gas and Aerosol Study, when researchers
chemically characterized and quantified particle-phase
isoprene-derived epoxydiols for the first time.
The field measurements, together with laboratory studies
by others, indicate that Isoprene-derived epoxydiols
are important intermediaries in the formation of low-NOx
secondary organic aerosols. For more information,
