Norma Formanek serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Institute Governance, at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), where she is responsible for directing EPRI’s legal affairs and governance and serves as the Chief Compliance Officer. She is also responsible for ensuring that EPRI fulfills its public interest mission and directs its enterprise risk management program.
Prior to joining EPRI in 2003, Formanek was a partner in the San Francisco law firm of Farella, Braun & Martel LLP, where she chaired the Litigation Department and provided counsel for the California Independent System Operator, among other clients.
A magna cum laude graduate of Hastings College of the Law, she earned a Master of Arts in English literature from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Berkeley. She served as co-chair of the Energy Litigation Committee for the American Bar Association, Section of Litigation. She is a member of the California Bar Association and of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
